SILENT PHILANTHROPIST AT WORK IN EKET

Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others. Help others without any reason and give without the expectation of receiving anything in return. This is a Government Secondary School located in the serene village of Afaha Atai in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. A silent philanthropist and an unsung hero by name, Engineer Itok Francis Etok of the neighbouring village of Iko Ekwa just quietly walked inside the school and conducted some needs assessment test. When the chips were finally down, and before the students of the school could say Jack Robinson, the kind hearted man has succeeded in personally renovated a four classroom block and also constructed a brand new assembly hall replete with state of the art facilities including three hundred seats, physics laboratory, stores, male and female conveniences et al. Because of his noble deeds, the school is now on the verge of having a WASCE approved centre. The facilities will soon be commissioned and handed over to the government for effective use and good maintenance culture. Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth. In the words of Albert Einstein, only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others? No one is more cherished in this world than someone who lightens the burden of another.

In 1990, at the age of 21, Essiet stepped into the world of broadcasting. He started as a guest artist and, over the course of 11 years, honed his skills and perfected his craft. Today, he proudly presents the renowned program, ‘Afternoon Ride,’ on Radio Akwa Ibom, 90.5, in South South Nigeria. For the past 33 years, Essiet has been the voice that resonates through the airwaves, touching the hearts of listeners far and wide. But Essiet’s impact extends beyond the borders of Nigeria. Akwa Ibom’s 18-Storey Ibom Towers to Boost Economic Ties with Lagos

In a groundbreaking ceremony, Akwa Ibom State Government launched the 18-storey Ibom Towers in Lagos, promising completion within 24 months. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu performed the ceremony, joined by former Akwa Ibom Governors Udom Emmanuel and Obong Victor Attah. The project aims to drive revenue and GDP growth for both states, providing economic diversification amid Nigeria’s financial challenges. Governor Umo Eno emphasized the project’s purpose: “to generate income and create job opportunities.” Located in Victoria Island, Ibom Towers will feature upscale apartments, gyms, pools, and smart technology, attracting urban professionals and boosting investments. Managing Director of AKICORP, Imo-Abasi Jacob, highlighted its potential for luxury residence and revenue generation. Leaders from both states praised the project’s impact on revenue and employment. Oba Abdulwasiu Lawal and His Eminence Ntenyin Solomon Etuk assured support, while Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong pledged legislative backing.
